Bigger, better, and faster than anything else even remotely similar, our new 38 offers an appealing step-up to existing Donzi ZF owners while at the same time creating a whole new niche in the market. While there are a few other center consoles out there of similar size, none of them offer anywhere near the combination of amenities and all-out performance that puts this new 38 in a class all her own. The 38ZF has been designed to be one of the most versatile boats on the water. With an overall length of 38’ 6” and a 10’ 6” beam, this new model is really three boats in one. No-nonsense offshore fisherman. The 38ZF’s large aft cockpit was designed for maximum fishability. There’s a 65 gallon recirculating livewell under the aft seat, and the full-height transom with walk-thru door contains a bait prep station and freshwater sink. Driver and co-pilot sit securely in the dual side-by-side drop-down helm seat with cooler. Or, for more versatility, choose the helm seat upgrade that adds tons of tackle storage, rigging station and a cutting board all housed within a fiberglass module. The helm itself is a model of ergonomic functionality, featuring flush-mounted Mercury Smart Craft instrumentation, waterproof switches with circuit breakers, beverage holders, a chart flat with plex cover, tilt hydraulic steering, and ample space for electronics and navigation equipment. Under the diamond non-skid cockpit sole, there’s plenty of room for the day’s catch in two monstrous insulated in-floor fishboxes that drain overboard via a macerator pump. Opt for the hardtop, and in addition to the standard complement of gunnel-mount rod holders and port and starboard cockpit rod racks, you’ll get locking storage for four fishing rods, concealed within the hardtop’s finished fiberglass inner-liner. Two curved seating areas grace the forward cockpit behind the wraparound acrylic windscreen, creating a comfortable place to lounge and take a break from the action. A standard wetbar with freshwater sink is housed within the starboard gunnel, and wide walkaround areas provide easy access to the forward deck and its integrated sun pad with headrest and beverage holders. Well-appointed overnighter. Heading below via a sliding companionway door with screen, you’ll find an exquisite cabin loaded with creature comforts. A full galley features a standard refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and an available single-burner electric stove. There’s an enclosed, stand-up head compartment with shower, sink, and vanity. Two facing love seats convert to a dinette via a slide-away cabin table, and a full-size v-berth offers plenty of room to stretch out and relax. Recessed deck hatches and opening, screened port lights combine with suspended headliner and over six feet of headroom to create an open, airy look. Optional air conditioning, generator, and TV with DVD player round out the amenities, and there’s even a cherry-finish cabinetry upgrade to give the cabin the same custom, lustrous look as on our 39ZSC Sport Cruiser. Quick to plane, agile and fast, rigged with triple Mercury 250 XS engines the 38ZF reaches top speeds in excess of 60 miles per hour. Due to the efficiency of its hull design the 38ZF also delivers astounding fuel economy: cruising at 40 miles per hour, you can expect a range of nearly 650 miles from the 410 gallon fuel tank.
